This course equips students with basic skills and
knowledge to explore their environment, create new garment patterns and
innovate existing patterns into contemporary designs that will satisfy the
social needs of the society.
This course continues to address the creative and innovative needs of the student. It
equips the student with knowledge and skills that enable him/her to effectively design
or register ideas on paper, which must then be transferred to fabric through
appropriate fabric decorative processes.
This course aims at equipping students with the basic knowledge and skills in creating
and adapting simple patterns for bodices/blouses. It shall include necklines, sleeves,
collars and bodice blocks.
This course is a continuation of FDT 157. It aims at equipping students with further
knowledge and skills in garment construction that include fabric layout and cutting as
well as machine operation.
The course equips students with knowledge and skills in direct cutting techniques.
Knowledge and skills acquired shall be used to undertake creative projects and
patterns for children and adult wear.
This course equips students with further techniques and skills in freehand and
mechanical drawing. It is meant primarily to build up creative abilities and tendencies
in students and thereby let students develop their psychomotor, affective and
cognitive skills. It encourages idea development and creativity using natural and man-made objects in the immediate environment. Emphasis is placed on creativity and
deduction of images and designs from drawing assignments.
This course provides students with enhanced knowledge and skills to communicate
professionally on many levels including writing, speaking, conducting meetings, giving
presentations and interpersonal dialogues, and using electronic media for their
presentations.
This course equips students with enhanced knowledge and skills in operating the
computer as a drawing, designing and presentation tool. This will also enable students
to perform various tasks using a combination of software programmes such as Word,
Photoshop, and PowerPoint and specialized soft wares for fashion/textile CAD
activities.
The aim of the course is to equip students with practical hands-on knowledge and
skills in a factory, large or small-scale enterprise within the fashion industry. Students
shall necessarily be placed in areas suitable for apprenticeship as trainees from
academic fashion training institute. The objective of this placement shall be to correct
their deficiencies, polish and equip them with the relevant skills that they require for
their individual levels of training.
