This course is designed to guide students into a successful translation of simple and complex modelled objects into products which may serve as a prototype for final or finished functional products.
This course is a continuation of BJDT 243 and introduces students to centrifugal casting. It entails a comprehensive investigation of the materials and methods of production casting. Emphasis will be on accurate model making and the production of multiple items of jewellery suitable for manufacture.
This course is a continuation of BJDT 354 and it seeks to introduce students to cabochon-cut stones which are available in wider cut types. They can be purchased ready-cut in a variety of shapes and standard dimensions. It also seeks to introduce students to faceted stones which have surfaces that are cut into a systematic geometric shape in relation to the crystal structure of the particular stone.
The ring as a functional object is a primary component in jewellery making. This is one area where setting of stones takes on a wide variety of forms. Many systems of fabricating a setting for cabochon-cut stone are used. The basic types were explained and demonstrated in BJDT354.
This course seeks to
introduce students to the ethical and legal issues of business in Ghana. It provides a theoretical and practical
understanding of ethical and legal related issues that affect businesses in
Ghana. It also explains the driving forces of new venture success and
understand the ethical and legitimacy challenges that face entrepreneurs with
new ventures.
The course seeks to introduce students to formal research and the research process. It will help students acquire a theoretical understanding of the scientific method of obtaining information and how it applies to the final year research for thesis or project work. The course will focus on providing a practical understanding of several tools used in the writing of a thesis and/or project work.
