Semester Two
This course is designed to take students through the most appropriate, practical as well as contemporary methods of making Jewellery. Students will have the opportunity to explore the various materials, tools, equipment and machines to enable them create three-Dimensional Design in the context of contemporary jewellery-making.
Semester Two
This course introduces students to the relevant activities that take place in the four basic environments that constitute the jewellery work studio with special emphasis on the health and safety aspects. Analysis of general workshop requirements and an “Occupational Safety and Health for Jewellers” workshop will be conducted for all first-year students through this course.
Semester Two
This course seeks to introduce students to the principles of orthographic, isometric and oblique projections, which are standard methods of representing engineering /technical designs. An understanding of this drawing technique, gives the student a better understanding of the sketches and related drawings made during the idea development stages.
Semester Two
This course introduces students to 3D modelling as an innovative approach to the visualization process and how Computer-aided design (CAD) is revolutionising the design manufacturing industry and promoting the integration of computers into the design process.
Semester Two
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to communicate professionally on many levels including writing; speaking; conducting meetings; giving presentations and interpersonal dialogues; and using electronic media. It will also help improve students’ ability to speak and to understand spoken English through a variety of listening, pronunciation, and speaking activities.
